Three years ago I photographed this lone person staring out to sea. I thought to myself, “She could be you or me.” Actually, she is. So I painted her. And there she is. 
I love painting lone, candid people - because the viewer can mentally put themselves in their place, and make up their own story of the painting.
I think that's powerful.
