About 10 years ago, on a warm August afternoon, I was walking on Ruby Beach when I spotted this couple walking past these monolithic rock structures. I took a quick snapshot of them with my cell phone, and every time I looked at that photo since then, I thought to myself... "That would make a nice painting."
Just now getting around to getting it done. I think I was right. I love Ruby Beach's smooth surface, only to be contrasted by these magnificent hard structures that seem to come out of nowhere. The soft, the hard, mixed with the gentle wash from the salty, incoming surf. My goal was to transport the viewer to a geographical scene I have come to call my favorite beach.
Hope I succeeded.
