Morning in South Prairie

This small, 24X12 oil on canvas is from a photograph I took just west of South Prairie, Washington. The beauty of western Washington's farming community is a continual inspiration for me of the part of America I love most - good old country living. The only things I added to the scene are the 1960s style tractor, the old school bus, an American flag, and the two cows. There were actually several cows in the original photo I took, but using just two cows seem to balance the painting better. 

"There's a pasture in the countryside I used to call my own. There's a natural pillow for my head. The grass there is overgrown, yes and though - I think of that place from time to time when I want to be alone..."
