Ordinary Dream - Original Oil Painting

This painting is based on a colored pencil drawing I did about 30 years ago. Ever since my first trip to Maui I’ve been fascinated by the humpback whales. Although I work mostly from my own photography, every now and then I like to use my imagination, inventing my own scene. All my work is a sort of window, like an open invitation into my world. The idea, I guess, is to be found, to … connect. Imagine the sounds of the humpback echoing through the underwater miles, always hoping and anticipating for even the faintest reply, that simply says, “I hear you.” In this same way, I hope you “hear” my art.
