Painter in the Now

My first and only self-portrait. Depicted here is an illustration of how someone gets completely lost in their occupation or project. For an artist, everything other than the brushes, the paints and the canvas simply disappear, making the work the painter’s only focus. Some call this, “living in the now”. It’s a much-needed mental escape we all take now and then while becoming immersed in our favorite activity. One of the best recreational environments to thoroughly lose oneself is the beach. Like the song “The Ocean” by The Bravery, the sounds and smells of the sea just … rolls us away.
