Still Got the Blues
Still Got the Blues
prints of the original oil painting by Ken Dahl
Born in Tucson, Arizona on July 15, 1946, Linda Maria Ronstadt is an American singer who performed and recorded in diverse genres including rock, country, light opera, the Great American Songbook, and Latin music. She has earned 11 Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, an Emmy Award, and an ALMA Award.
Linda's storied career was launched in the mid-1960s in Los Angeles, where she and two friends formed the Stone Poneys. Within a short period of time, they hopped on the Billboard charts with the 1967 hit “Different Drum,” and that song title has aptly described her musical journey.
So many of her musical works of art were her fan’s “favorite song”. Whenever I chance across a photo of her, the song “Heart Like a Wheel” comes to mind. This oil painting is my hopeful, visual rendering of her album cover with the same name. I hope you enjoy my art even half as much as we all enjoy her huge contribution of amazing, heartfelt music.
"Some say the heart is just like a wheel
When you bend it you can't mend it.
But my love for you is like a sinking ship
And my heart is on that ship out in mid-ocean"
