Here is an oil painting of my morning meditation walk. It's where I go to watch the sunrise several times a week. It is also where I counsel myself and do the work of sorting out important things in my head and my heart.
It is so quiet and peaceful there, and this little morning walk has become a good and healthy friend for me... even though I do realize that I'm talking to myself and coming up with my own answers. Everyone does it. Some people call it prayer. I call it me - owning my own stuff and working toward common sense, practical solutions. And yes, we humans are that incredible.
Sometimes my "counseling session" yields some progress, sometimes even some self-honesty to help see my life's challenges more realistically. But then other times it's just a place to breathe and think of absolutely nothing. Those sessions are valuable too.
The sun is rising on this cool September morning. The lupines are almost all gone and autumn is softly knocking at the door. Soon the geese will be filling those skies, and frost will again wake the morning with its chill warning of winter. Change is inevitable, growth is optional. And that’s why I come here almost daily.
