Up With the Birds

I've always been fascinated with those old traditional, small-town water towers. Many years ago, as a teen I drew a pencil sketch of one that had been made into a home. At the time I thought it would be so cool to have a home in one of those steel structures, high above the rest of the town. I have finally brought that idea to life in this new oil painting entitled, "Up with the birds". 

I struggled for days trying to come up with a fitting title. Then an old, familiar Coldplay song started playing in the background. And I said out loud, “That’s it.” So, I added some sparrows and used the name of the song as the title.  

The thing I like the most about this painting is that it makes a great conversation piece. And, if one uses just a little bit of imagination, they can transport themselves into the scene - as the one standing there in that window. Without an elevator it would be quite impractical, I know, but perhaps an elevator is an option.
